Research Assistant in Numerical Simulations of Gas Turbine Combustion

University of Cambridge, UK is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoc position in combustion. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 24 months. Applications are welcome before December 15, 2019.

A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on Numerical Simulations of Gas Turbine Combustion.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are to perform research in gas turbine combustion through numerical tools such as Large Eddy Simulation. The role includes close collaboration with Rolls-Royce, regular presentations and reports writing, as well as the development of new combustion models and the application of existing ones to practical and academic geometries.

The successful candidate must have a very good knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics, turbulent combustion, spray combustion, massively-parallel computing, and extensive experience in working in collaborative projects and with industry.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD in LES of gas turbine combustion or a closely related field. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
