Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is offering postdoctoral scholar position. This position is available for 2 years in the first instance. Applications should be sent before December 12, 2019.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical particle physics.

The role is funded by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council. The role holder will be part of the Collider Phenomenology group at Cambridge consisting of faculty members A. Mitov and M. Ubiali (pQCD), B. Allanach, B. Gripaios and M. Mccullough (BSM), a number of postdocs and graduate students.

The role holder will be working in theoretical particle physics, developing cutting-edge, high-precision calculations in the Standard Model relevant for LHC phenomenology. The role holder is expected to have excellent knowledge of theoretical particle physics with particular emphasis on developing and/or using high-precision calculations for LHC processes.

The closing date for applications is 12 December 2019 and the candidate would ideally start 1st October 2020.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance , with the possibility to extend the contract for another year.

Appointment at research associate is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent experience), including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD (in which case appointment will initially be made at research assistant and amended to research associate when the PhD is awarded). The research assistant salary (grade 5) falls within the range 26,715 to 30,942. The research associate (grade 7) salary falls within the range 32,816 to 40,322.
