Postdoctoral Researcher in Protein Engineering and Glyco-mimetics

Technical University of Denmark, Denmark is offering postdoctoral researcher position in biotechnology. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for 3 years in Denmark. The deadline to apply is November 10, 2019.

The Section of Protein Science and Biotherapeutics at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine has an opening for a position as postdoctoral researcher. The position will be available from November 2019 or soon thereafter.

The successful applicant will work within the newly established research group 'Glycoengineering and Innovation' headed by Professor Steffen Goletz and is partially funded by a NNF Strategic Award.

In our research group, we apply and develop advanced glycoengineering technologies to elucidate the role of glycosylations for the microbiome, disease and complex immunological networks and use these for identifying novel drug targets and generating novel drug candidates and therapeutic strategies. Our focus lies within glycoimmunology, microbiome glycoengineering, glycomic and glycomimetic display systems as well as molecular and cellular glycoengineering, antibody engineering, phage display technologies, and mammalian bioprocess engineering.

Glycoprotein- and carbohydrate-mimetics using phage display with molecular evolution and proteinengineering

In this project, we will generate novel protein-based mimetics of carbohydrate structures and receptors. It includes generation of novel phage-display libraries and molecular evolution as well as complex antibody and fusion-protein engineering and conjugation for generation of new therapeutic strategies especially in the area of anti-infectives.

Applicant should hold a PhD in a life sciences discipline, have excellent communication skills and be extensively trained in antibody and fusion-protein engineering, phage display and molecular evolution, protein expression in and purification from mammalian and bacterial cell systems, as well as broad spectrum of immune-based assays and coupling techniques. Prior successful postdoctoral research and supervision of PhD students is not mandatory but would be highly advantageous, and knowledge in bioreactor processes, USP and DSP would be a strong asset. The ideal candidate would be also familiar with anti-infectives and/or auto-immune diseases.
