The School of Public Health at Imperial College London aims to achieve better health in the population through strengthening the public health science base, training the next generation of public health leaders and influencing health policies and programmes around the world. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, within the School of Public Health, is headed by Professor Paul Elliott. Its research covers a number of themes including biostatistics and statistical genetics; cardiovascular disease and molecular epidemiology; and Life-course epidemiology and Exposome. Our work is used to inform health policy and understand key issues affecting society.

We are looking for an excellent, enthusiastic and quantitatively strong candidate, with a PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Computational Science, Biomedical sciences, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative discipline, to join an exciting and innovative project that aims to provide an overall systems biology assessment of 'biological ageing' and investigate the key determinants of 'accelerated ageing'. The project will apply highly sensitive metabolomics analyses and other 'omics platforms in samples collected in over 50,000 children and adults from multiple prospective population-based cohorts. The successful applicant will contribute to application of proposed statistical methodology, including data pre-processing, model formulation and statistical programming, and the development of optimised and reproducible pipe-lines for efficient analysis of high-dimensional biological data within high-performance computer clusters.

The person appointed will be expected to bring enthusiasm as well as valuable expertise and experience to strengthen the project's team; to help meet its research objectives; and to participate and lead on publications arising from this consortium. Experience in conducting multivariate statistical analyses in observational studies with 'omics data is essential.

The contract will be for a fixed term duration, until 31 Oct 23.
