Postdoc Position in Machine Learning for Wireless Communication Networks

Imperial College London is offering postdoctoral scholar position in wireless communication. The deadline for applying is September 29, 2019.

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Machine Learning for Wireless Communication Networks. The post-holder will be based within the Intelligent Systems and Networks group under the direction of Dr Deniz Gunduz.

This is a fixed term appointment working on the BEACON project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC).

Your role will be to carry out independent research in the area of wireless communication networks; specifically, in exploiting modern machine learning techniques to develop novel physical and network layer communication protocols.

The Research Associate is expected to actively write and submit publications to top refereed journals and conferences and to contribute to attracting external research funding.

The project includes an allowance for the post-holder to travel to international conferences and/or to visit collaborating research institutions.

Applicants for a Research Associate position must have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related discipline (or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience). You will need to have considerable experience in machine learning, communication theory, information theory, and optimization.

Applicants with strong experience and a proven track record in one or more of the above research areas are encouraged to apply. A high level of analytical and computing skills is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven research record and publications in relevant areas.

You must have excellent communication skills and be able to organise your work with minimal supervision and to prioritise work to meet deadlines. All applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range 34,397 – 37,486 per annum.
