University of Cambridge is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening postdoctoral fellowship position in catalysis. This position is available for 2 years in the first instance. The deadline to apply is September 27, 2019.

A Research Associate position is available immediately to develop carbon-based electrodes for Li-S batteries. The project, which is funded by the Faraday Institute, will involve fabrication of carbon electrode materials, characterization of their porosity and enhancing polysulfide conversion kinetics using catalysis.

Applicants must have expert knowledge of different battery technologies, fabrication of carbon-based electrodes, electrochemical measurements using cyclic voltammetry and impedance measurement systems. The experimental work to be undertaken will be: synthesis of carbon materials, characterization using spectroscopic and microscopy techniques, fabrication of Li-S cells, measurement of electrocatalytic properties and battery cell performance.

The successful candidate will work in the 2D Materials and Devices Group under the supervision of Professor Manish Chhowalla.

The position is available immediately. It is for 1 year in the first instance with the possibility to be extended to 2 years.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
