Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is offering postdoctoral associate position in tropical medicine. Candidates are welcome before September 20, 2019.

We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to develop novel methods to genetically manipulate insects within the research group of Professor Frank Jiggins in the Department of Genetics. The project aims to use Drosophila as a model to develop new technologies that can then be transferred to non-model species such as disease vectors and pests. The work will involve developing cutting-edge methods in genetic manipulation to allow the efficient manipulation of Drosophila genomes without the need to microinject embryos. The work will be in close collaboration with a post-doctoral researcher in the group of Dr Grant Hughes at the Liverpool School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, who will transfer these techniques to other species.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who holds a PhD in a relevant discipline. It is essential that the candidate has experience in Drosophila genetics, molecular biology and the genetic manipulation of insects.
