PhD Scholarship at The University of Queensland

International students are invited for a PhD scholarship in mathematics at The University of Queensland. This position is available for 3 years. Candidates are welcome before September 01, 2019.

You will work on the research of modelling light-emitting molecules/materials, especially those with potential application in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The research is highly interdisciplinary and It will involve a range of computer modelling methods and techniques in the area of quantum chemistry, chemical physics, and data science. You will work under the supervision of Dr Xiuwen Zhou (http://researchers.uq.edu.au/researcher/17122) within the School of Mathematics and Physics (SMP) and will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other leading researchers from UQ and other Australian and international universities.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer (Level B) position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.

You possess a MSc or a BSc with Honours, with a strong motivation in tackling challenges in multi-disciplinary areas. Background in computational/theoretical chemistry and/or computational condensed-matter physics and skills in programming are desirable, but not essential.

The scholarship consists of tuition fees, a living stipend and Overseas Student Health Cover (for international applicants). The current stipend is valued at $27,596 per annum (2019) for 3 years, with two possible six-month extensions, and is subject to UQ’s HDR admissions and scholarship policy requirements. You will also be eligible to apply for an additional grant for travel over the life of the project from SMP.
