Postdoctoral Position in Veterinary Epidemiology of Antimicrobial Resistance

ETH Zurich, Switzerland is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoctoral researcher position in information systems. The funds for this position are available for 2 years. This position is open until filled.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) -the ability of microbes to evolve and resist treatment- is rising globally. In September 2016, the United Nations General Assembly declared AMR "the most urgent global risk", and mandated its member states to establish national action plans against AMR, including improvements to epidemiological surveillance systems. This position is part of a project funded by the join programming initiative on AMR to improve surveillance in animals raised for food in low- and middle-income countries. We invite applicants to apply for a new position.We are looking for an enthusiast and quantitatively minded candidate to work on the spatial association between antimicrobial consumption and resistance. The ideal candidate will also bring his/her own research questions to develop in the broad field of AMR epidemiology. This is a fixed term position for two 2 years with an anticipated start date between September 1st and December 31th 2019. The position is based at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. The successful candidate will join the newly formed spatial epidemiology group led by an enthusiast and quantitatively minded candidate to work on the spatial association between antimicrobial consumption and resistance. The ideal candidate will also bring his/her own research questions to develop in the broad field of AMR epidemiology. This is a fixed term position for two 2 years with an anticipated start date between September 1st and December 31th 2019. The position is based at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. The successful candidate will join the newly formed spatial epidemiology group led by Thom Van Boeckel

We welcome applicants with: (1) A background in veterinary sciences, epidemiology, quantitative geography. (2) Experience with regression models, geographic information systems, biostatistics. (3) Experience with the programming language R. (4) Basic knowledge in microbiology, although not required, is an asset. (5) Experience on zoonotic disease, although not required, is an asset.
