Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral associate position in bioinformatics at University of Cambridge, UK. Applications are welcome before June 20, 2019.

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available within Dr Giles Yeo’s group at the Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS). Supported by the Medical Research Council, this post will involve the molecular characterization in human neurons of genes associated with severe obesity identified from consanguineous pedigrees.

Scientists with a strong background in molecular and cell biology are encouraged to apply. An aptitude for and interest in developing more bioinformatic expertise, particularly in the area of analysing single cell RNA sequencing data, would be advantageous. An understanding of mammalian neurobiology would be very helpful as genes associated with severe obesity are likely to function largely within the brain. The role holder will work closely with other members of the group on this research programme, in addition to developing their own independent research ideas and questions.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Giles Yeo, Metabolic Research Laboratories, Level 4, Wellcome Trust-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science, Box 289 Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge CB2 0QQ. Email: gshy2@cam.ac.uk

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2022 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.

Click the ‘Apply’ button below to register an account with our recruitment system (if you have not already) and apply online.

The closing date is 20 June 2019, with interviews to be confirmed.

Please ensure that you upload a covering letter and CV in the Upload section of the online application. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.

Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
