Laura Ahtiainen's research group at the Institute of Biotechnology's Developmental Biology Program is currently looking for a

We offer a position in an internationally renowned multidisciplinary research environment supported by excellent core facilities. The group is led by Academy of Finland research fellow and HiLife fellow Laura Ahtiainen. You will have the opportunity to learn and be a part of research using leading edge imaging methodologies in an enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere. Our group uses a combination of transgenic mouse models and organ culture methods with confocal fluorescence live tissue imaging, cell and molecular biology and transcriptomic approaches to address mechanistic questions in the cell biology of ectodermal organ development and dysplasia. The PhD project will focus on the cell biological aspects of regulation of early tooth development and dysplasia models.

Desired skills and experience: You must hold a M.Sc. degree (or about to graduate) in cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, biochemistry, or related field. Conceptual knowledge of basic cell and molecular biology methods is required and prior practical experience in cell biology, developmental biology or imaging is appreciated. Previous experience in next generation sequencing and transcriptomics would be an advantage. Since you will be part of an international research environment, good communication skills in English are important.

The full-time position can start immediately or upon mutual agreement. The salary is based on the demand level 2 of the salary system of the Finnish Universities for Teaching and researcher staff. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. A trial period of 6 months will be applied.
