PhD Scholarship in Protein Structure Function and Proteomics

Applications are invited for a PhD position in biotechnology to join Technical University of Denmark, Denmark. The funds for this fellowship are available for 3 years. Potential candidates should apply before March 25, 2019.

A PhD fellowship is available in the project "Molecular Insight of Alginate Degradation by Human Gut Microbiota and Host Interplay". The research is carried out at DTU Bioengineering in collaboration with DTU Food, DTU Biosustain, Architecture et Fonction des Macromolcules Biologiques (AFMB), Marseille, Division of integrated Life Science, Graduate School of Biostudies, Kyoto University and Department of Biotechnology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim

The research focuses on understanding degradation and utilization of alginate by gut microbiota and the specific impact on the host.

The primary tasks of this project will be to identifygut bacteria degrading defined alginates by functional screening of microbiota. Furthermore you will have the following responsibilities

Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.

The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see theDTU PhD Guide.

The assessment of the applicants will be made by Prof. Birte Svensson and Prof. Ulrich auf dem Keller with relevant project partners.
