The project addresses the urgent need to find a substitution material to replace coal fly ash in the concrete industry, and contribute to the reduction of CO -emission from global concrete production. The project tasks include a) physio-chemical and environmental characterization of mine tailings and mortars cast with tailings as partial cement substituent, b) investigation of mechanical mortar performance and c) investigation of the possibility to upgrade tailings for improved performance. Numerous parameters and outcomes are expected, and statistical multivariate analysis and chemometrics must be employed in the data analysis.

inCivil EngineeringorEnvironmental Engineering, or a similar degree with an equivalent academic level. Especially invited to submit an application are candidates with background in mine tailings management or concrete performance. Skills in analytical chemistry and multivariate statistical analysis are advantageous. Candidates should be highly motivated, eager to seek and share knowledge, and capable of independent work as well as collaborative work.
