Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening postdoctoral fellowship position in epidemiology. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 12 months. Candidates are welcome before March 06, 2019.

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Assistant or Research Associate— depending on qualification and experience— to join Dr Golam Khandaker’s research group at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, based at Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Main responsibilities of this post will include statistical analysis of epidemiological cohort data to investigate potential links between biomarkers of inflammation and risks for mental and physical disorders.

Experience of analysing epidemiological cohort or other datasets, demonstrable through publication, completed thesis, or by other means is essential. Experience of analysing genetic data is also desirable. Good time keeping skills, organisational and communication skills are essential.

There will be opportunities for professional development including attending relevant training courses, writing manuscripts and conference presentation.

For appointment to Research Assistant level, applicants should be educated to first-degree level in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biostatistics, Research Methods or a related science discipline (essential). A postgraduate-level qualification in epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods, psychiatry, neuroscience or a related discipline is desirable for Research Assistants. Applicants seeking appointment to Research Associate must possess or be close to completion of a PhD in biostatistics, research methods, psychiatry, neuroscience or a related discipline. Appointment at the level of Research Associate will be conditional upon you receiving your PhD within six months of taking up the post.

The salary range is 26,243 – 30,395 for Research Assistants, and 32,236 – 39,609 for Research Associates.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
