Research Assistant at Imperial College London

Imperial College London, UK is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoctoral researcher position in information theory. Candidates are welcome before March 05, 2019.

Applications are invited for a research assistant/associate position in lattice codes and post-quantum cryptography, with a start date as soon as possible. The post will be based within the Communications and Signal Processing group in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. The research is conducted as part of a project funded by EPSRC. The position is open to British, EU and overseas candidates.

The post holder will conduct both theoretical and experimental research on lattice codes. Responsibilities include planning and carrying out research in accordance with the project aims and timeframes, contributing to the timely production of project deliverables and cooperating with research staff at Royal Holloway, University of London. Acting as a representative for Imperial College London, the post holder will also write progress reports, prepare results for publication and dissemination and present research at conferences, open days and to departmental visitors. They will also interact with and/or co-supervise research students working on topics related to the project while liaising and working with other members of the team for the benefit of the project objectives.

The successful candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent) or be close to finishing PhD (or equivalent) in information theory, coding or a similar subject (such as cryptography). Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range 33,380 – 35,061 per annum.
