Applications are invited for a Research Associate position to join Professor Anne Dell and Dr. Stuart Haslams's group in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London. The post is funded as part of the March of Dimes-Imperial European Prematurity Research Centre. Therefore this Life Sciences based position will also be a member of a larger research consortium consisting of researchers and health care professionals from the Faculty of Medicine The post holder will undertake glycomic, glycoproteomic and proteomic projects to characterise samples derived from pregnant women provided by other members of research consortium. - To undertake glycomic, glycoproteomic and proteomic projects to characterise samples derived from pregnant women provided by other members of research consortium.

- To take responsibility for collaborative projects and for implementing glycomic, proteomic and glycoproteomic technologies. - To keep up to date with the literature in the areas of biopolymer mass spectrometry and glycobiology. - To take initiatives in the planning of research and keep accurate records of experimental data - To direct the work of small research teams including undergraduate and postgraduate students. - To conduct data analysis. - To ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times. - To write reports for submission to research sponsors. - To submit publications to refereed journals.

- A PhD (or equivalent) in biological sciences or chemistry - Experience in at least one of the following areas: biopolymer mass spectrometric analysis, glycobiology, proteomics You must also have: - Proven ability in laboratory research as evidenced through publication in peer reviewed journals. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to present results clearly and concisely verbally and in writing. - Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for publication. - High level analytical capability. - Ability to work independently and work well as part of a team This is a full time, fixed term position available for up to 48 months based at the South Kensington Campus
