PhD Studentship Executive Decision Making and Firm Performance

Applicants are invited to apply for a PhD scholarship in strategic management at The University of Nottingham. Candidates are welcome before March 08, 2019.

Are you interested in undertaking a PhD to understand how executives make decisions under uncertainty and ambiguity?

We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD student who will work with a dedicated supervision team to undertake original research in the field of strategic management. The research seeks to explore the key factors that lead to unique differences in executives' decision making. The student will take a micro-level process perspective, by elaborating on the interpretation of prior firm performance and factors that influence such interpretations in terms of performance expectations, aspirations, as well as a range of other individual, firm, and industry-level influences. The student will build upon existing research about these factors in the field of behavioural strategy. It is anticipated that the student will refine the focus of the study with their supervisors within this general area. It is expected that the project will involve a significant element of quantitative analysis and that the student will have training in statistics and/or econometrics. There will be opportunities to develop a unique dataset using the extensive databases available at the School and/or build upon existing data of the supervisory team.

This funded PhDs will commence from 1st October 2019. A yearly stipend at current RCUK rates (15,009), plus UK/EU student tuition fees (4,327), is available to the successful applicant.
