PhD Position in Studying Hydrogen in Amorphous Materials

International students are invited for a PhD scholarship in condensed matter physics at Uppsala University. Applications are welcome before May 01, 2019.

Researchers at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, situated in the ngstrm Laboratory, conduct world-class research and education. The department is the second largest at Uppsala University with more than 300 employees and 10 different divisions. For more information, visit The project will be jointly carried out within the Division of Materials Physics and the Division of Materials Theory, where we cover a wide range of topics within [RS1][MOU2][MOU3][MOU4]condensed matter physics: see and Thus, the candidate will benefit from working in an exceptionally diverse environment and will have ample opportunities to interact and collaborate with leading theoretical and experimental groups.

Requirements: The applicant should have a MSc degree in Physics or equivalent. Courses or other experience in one or more of the following areas are considered a merit: neutron or x-ray scattering, thin film synthesis, computational physics, density functional theory, and lattice dynamics. Since the candidate will carry out experimental neutron scattering as well as numerical simulations, the applicant should have an interest in both experimental and computational physics. Personal qualities such as dedication, motivation, initiative and independence are valuable. Very good skills in spoken and written English are required.
