Clinical Postdoc Position/research Associate at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is delighted to offer a postdoctoral position in computer science. The funds for this fellowship are available for two years. Applicants should apply before March 20, 2019.

A post-doctoral Research Associate or Clinical Research Associate position in Cognitive Neuroimaging and Neuropharmacology is available to work at the Adaptive Brain Lab, Univ of Cambridge, UK (http://www.abg.psychol.cam.ac.uk).

The position will focus on advanced neuroimaging (e.g. 7T brain imaging, EEG) in combination with interventional methods (neuropharmacology, TMS, TDCs) in healthy volunteers and patients with neurocognitive disorders (e.g. dementia).

Research in the lab aims to understand how humans of all ages (healthy and patients with neurocognitive disorders) translate sensory experience into complex decisions and adaptive behaviours by taking into account previous experience and learning. We address this challenge using an interdisciplinary approach that combines behavioural paradigms, multimodal brain imaging (MRI, MRS, EEG, MEG, TMS, TDCs, and neuropharmacology) and state-of-the-art computational methods. We apply these techniques to study the young and ageing brain and understand adaptive behaviours in health and neurocognitive disorders.

The successful applicant will receive multi-disciplinary research training at the interface between cognitive neuroimaging, pharmacology, computer modelling, and clinical translations.

Applicants should have a PhD or will be able to apply for the PhD programme in Cambridge, together with a strong academic track record, in a relevant area (e.g., Medicine, Psychology, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science). Programming skills are highly desirable and experience with neuropharmacology and/or brain imaging preferable.

This post may suit medically qualified doctors and trainees in neurology or psychiatry looking to further their research experience and register for a higher degree. A Medical qualification and GMC registration or ability to obtain registration before job commencement is required. This post could provide the basis for registering for a higher degree (PhD or MD).

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.

This appointment requires a Research Passport application and an Honorary Clinical Contract.

Informal enquiries about the position can be made to Professor Zoe Kourtzi (zk240@cam.ac.uk)

Please note the closing date for applications is 20 March 2019. Applications received after this time will not be considered.
