Applications are invited fora Senior Teaching Fellow to coordinate the CodeLab programmewithin the Department of Computing. We are a leading department of Computer Science among UK Universities with a reputation for excellence in both teaching and research.The Department is part of the Faculty of Engineering and provides a wide variety of degree programmes for approximately 800 taught undergraduate and postgraduate students.

We believe that Computing is a degree that is rewarding for many people, independent of gender or financial background and are very concerned that the percentages of either of these groups applying to do our degrees do not reflect the general population. CodeLab is a long term programme we have created to increase the interest in coding amongst the underrepresented groups.

The post-holder will be responsible for the planning and the delivery of the Department's CodeLab programme. This is a unique programme, teaching 11-14 year olds to code. It is aimed primarily at girls and widening participation pupils. This programme first ran in 2017-2018 with hundreds of pupils and tens of student helpers. It is a new post created in consultation with YNAP (our funder) and TuringLabs (our content provider). You willcontribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and curricula in the department's CodeLab programme, working with TuringLabs to ensure effectiveness of content. You will be responsible for attracting and choosing the school pupils for CodeLab’s courses and events, collaborating with YNAP and TuringLabs to design, organise and promote school events. As an active promoter ofequality, diversity and inclusion, you will reflect the CodeLab’s recruitment policy requiring at least 50% girls and 30% widening participation pupils in all events.
