Postdoctoral Researcher in Educational Sciences at University of Amsterdam

A new opening postdoctoral scholar position is available at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. This position is available for four years in the first instance. The deadline to apply is January 23, 2019.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a PhDin Educational Sciences, excellent research skills and demonstrated expertise in a relevant area for this project. The hired candidate will join the programme of Education of the Department of Child Development and Education, which is located in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG).

What will you be doing?

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in a larger research project, funded by an NRO grant for fundamental research. The title of the overarching project is‘The role of future time perspective and resilience in teachers' and students' protection against stress and stimulation of self-regulated learning’. The project of the postdoctoral researcher will focus on the role of future time perspective and resilience in dealing with stress and self-regulated learning among secondary school students. The project will first investigate the relations between trait-like interpersonal differences and day-to-day intrapersonal differences in experienced future time perspective, resilience, stress, and self-regulated learning. Subsequently, an intervention will be tested that is aimed at students future time perspective or resilience to foster the ability to deal with stress and to stimulate self-regulated learning behaviour. The position concerns a temporary appointment of between 30,4 and 38 hours a week for a maximum term of four years (depending on weekly hours). The initial appointment is for one year. Following a positive assessment and barring altered circumstances, this term can be extended by a maximum of three years.

Salary depends on past education and relevant work experience, with a minimum salary of 3.637 and a maximum salary of 4.978 gross per month based on a full-time appointment for a 38-hour working week (in keeping with scale 11, as per the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
